Craters of the Moon
Calvin Coolidge decided that Craters of the Moon would be a monument. It became a monument in 1924. Craters of the Moon is in Arco, Idaho.
   
It is part of the Snake River Plains. In some places of Craters of the Moon the lava is 10,000 feet deep. It is a lava flow bed.
   
Craters of the Moon is 54,400 acres. It contains 55 cones with lava flows and 14 fissures. Eruptions took place in 2,000-53,400 acres long.
